Sally Rooney is an Irish author. Rooney was born in Castlebar and studied English at Trinity College Dublin. Her debut novel, Conversations with Friends, was published in 2017. It was followed, in 2018, by her second novel, Normal People. Normal People was longlisted for Man Booker Prize in 2018, won the Irish Novel of the Year at Irish Book Awards, was named Waterstones' Book of The Year for 2018, and won Costa Book Award in 2019. The novel has also been adapted for a 12 part series by the online streaming service Hulu.
