S. E. Hinton

Susan Eloise Hinton is an American writer popular for her young-adult novels (YA), in particular her novel The Outsiders (1967), which she wrote during her high school years in 1967. Hinton is credited with popularizing the YA genre. In 1988 she received the Margaret Edwards Award from the American Library Association for her collective contribution in writing for teens. Hinton currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband David.
